The system promotes the idiots on the road

The question is whether we want Big Brother enforcing fast lanes and speed cameras...

If you get into an accident with an idiot, you better be bigger. This actually promotes the idiots and the arms race.

Someone has a rather interesting take on the subject:

"Every time I drive defensively to avoid idiot drivers, I actually protect the idiot drivers from getting a bad driving record"

https://www.reddit.com/r/Showerthoughts/comments/45l140/every_time_i_drive_defensively_to_avoid_idiot/

Do we actually need to have an accident to prove our point? Isn't that what the system wants?

I say this Big Brother is blind.

Every motor vehicle used on public roads must be registered. Every
driver must pass a test and be licensed. Yet there are over 30,000
deaths per year and plenty of idiots driving. Obviously registering
cars and licensing drivers is ineffective in preventing automobile
accidents and nobody even claims it has eliminated car crime. So why
do some idiots think it will reduce gun accidents or crime??
Rewarding the idiots for bad behavior is not a good idea.

Chatting on the phone is something the idiots do when tolerated. They also sit on the fast lane playing vigilante.

I think the first step is to keep the masses from driving. Why should we democratize the car? I know, it's all about money but our roads have reached critical mass. Bumper to bumper!

Well, the first line of defense is to ban advertising of vehicles on TV. We know how it works. The idiots buy whatever they see on TV (they call it the "idiot's box). Make it harder, not easier. And we want speed cameras, of course. We don't want the idiots to be running loose.

At the same time let the good drivers prosper and multiply. Give them a reward. Give them the fast lane.

In the Middle East we find Islamo Fascists. In America we find Consumo Fascists.

Terrorizing the world, denying the human being his freedom and mobility.

I don't deny you space. All species deserve space and respect in the jungle.
Just don't come blasting the horn at me. I'm doing something good for myself and the planet.
If you are impeding others - going slower than normal traffic - then
you are denying other space and deserve to have horns blown at you and
worse. I cannot say for being good for you but it is not good for the
planet.
What's the speed of life? The cheetah is meant to be faster than any human being. How can you deny our bipedal condition?

We have some "community buses" that run around empty. What's a better way to
get around, the buses or the bicycle?
Teleportation. ;-)
Even better, just stay at home and 3D print and internet order
everything you need. :-p
I get depressed by traffic jams and "construction/destruction/corruption." It's a war zone outside.

It's better to stay home and pray for Jesus to come soon. 🙏

I know this may sound like cheap revolutionary propaganda, but I think the "car culture" is a form neocolonialism imposed on the most impoverished nations.

However the country of Burundi (one of the poorest) has chosen the bike. Cuba had a brief affair with the bike but Cubans want to live in Hialeah and drive an SUV.

We have WAAAAY more places to go than just to work. The horrific
backups on interstate highways outside large population centers on
Sunday night says people are traveling back home from Grandma's,
probably 50 - 100 miles away, and there's no bike, train, bus, or
jogging going to heip that situatiuon. You can build subways and
other light rail 'til the cows come home, and we'll still need a
dramatic expansion of the Interstate highway system to bypass a lot of
the population centers and keep people moving who just want to get to
the next state.

And no that ain't quick, but its necessary.

First, tho, we have to restore prosperity to America. Pass the Fair
Tax to do that.
